A Night at the DSO

And Ben Folds.

It really couldn't be better. There's something magical about having adult plans on a weeknight. It kind of reminds you that you are a grown up, and that it's cool to have plans on a Wednesday night at the Symphony.

A synopsis of the concert:

Ben Folds played awesome. As usual. Even when he effs things up, it's still pretty great. And tonight, well, he effed things up a lot. But one can't blame the poor man. He humbly admitted to just finishing a tour in Asia (like 2 days ago), and waking up this morning to a horrendous cough. He apologized profusely, made a lot of references to Sonny Bono's encounter with Elvis backstage (apparently Elvis was really performing badly and Sonny graciously tried to tell Elvis that while not insulting him), and only performed one encore number. But despite the fact that the man was clearly ill and not feeling well at all, he gave it his all. He seemed to be having a great time, and the show was epic. He even made up a song on the spot, complete with orchestrating the parts for string bass, cello, violin, percussion, back up choir, and sax. I was impressed.
