Day 18: Whatever Tickles My Fancy

I went to the Ft. Worth Symphony last night with some friends. It was so delightful. It reminded me of my first real musical experience (apart from my own music lessons, of course). When I turned 11 (I think...), Van Cliburn was coming to perform with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic to perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 on my birthday. I distinctly remember eating breakfast cereal at the table, and my dad came and plopped the newspaper ad for the concert down in front of me and asked if I wanted to go. I agreed that I would accompany him and so we had a lovely Daddy-Daughter Date at the philharmonic. It is a very fond memory, and when I became a true fan of both Van Cliburn, as well as classical music as a whole.
